How to Choose a VPS Location for Users in Asia

The best VPS location in Asia is the one closest to your users on the network, not only on the map. We measured ping from 15 cities to our Asia locations. Use the tables below to pick a location, then test the route yourself before you buy.

  • real ping data
  • 15 source cities
  • test IP on request
01Quick answerWhere are your users?

Pick a VPS location by where your users are

Typical ping to our servers, median of three rounds.

Median of three ping rounds (two for South Korea) from public test probes, 28–29 September 2026. Your own result depends on your network and your users' networks.

02What we learned3 rules
01

Put the server close to your users

Ping grows with distance. A server in the same city as your users often answers in under 10 ms. From Frankfurt to our Hong Kong server, ping was about 184 ms. For a website, a chat app or a game, that difference is easy to feel.

02

The network route matters more than the map

Close on the map does not always mean close on the network. In our tests, users in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta reached our Seoul server in about 150–215 ms. The same users reached our Hong Kong server in 34–45 ms. The traffic took a long route. This is why we measure and do not guess.

03

For all of Asia, start with Hong Kong or Singapore

If your users are spread across Asia, one server in Hong Kong or Singapore is a good start. Both averaged about 40 ms to nine Asian cities in our tests. Hong Kong was faster for Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea. Singapore was faster for Southeast Asia and India. When you grow, add a second server and send each user to the nearer one.

Measured ping to our Asia locations

Rows are where the test ran. Columns are our server locations.

A range means the three rounds were far apart, which usually means the route changed. Plan with the higher number.

Test the route yourself

Our numbers are a guide, not a promise. Open a ticket and ask for a test IP in the location you like. Then run ping or mtr from where your users are, or ask a few users to do it. If the result is not good, try the second choice from the table.
